Top class free Cloud Certication from Rackspace - Go for it!

I heard about cloud computing for the first time in 2008 and was fascinated by it. It promised to change the way IT is delivered and it has not failed at all.
Since then, I have been trying to get my foot in the cloud ecosystem and ended up doing this:
a. Wrote this post detailing the how cloud computing will kill Piracy.
b. In my job, I contributed in preparing a Application readiness assessment for moving application to cloud.
But it was never a formal jump. Since then the job scenario has changed. I have crossed 10 years of work experience and now, the job opportunities are not as high when I was in 5-8 years work experience bracket. Also, I have become selective about the role that matches my career aspirations, and that reduces the opportunities further. I wanted to reskill myself to be relevant in the changing IT landscape and so I decided to complete a cloud certification.

As always, I Googled for cloud certification and ended up with this article that lists the top 10 Cloud certifications. While going through the 10 options, My interest was caught by the CloudU certification sponsored by Rackspace ( One of the leading cloud computing company) and I decided to go for it.

How to register

The process is simple, go to this link and click on Buy Now option. You will be prompted to register and is very limited info that is asked. Once you have registered, you are good to go for the course.

Course content

The course is in the form of white papers. The chapters are ordered nicely. The course focussed on the fundamental concepts of Cloud and in the initial chapters and keeps building on top of it. There is a quiz at the end of every chapter to check the learning. And a final exam at the end of course. I passed with 92% Smile
The language of the white papers is pretty lucid.

I shouldn't forget to mention that the USP of this certification is that it is vendor-neutral. Though it is sponsored by Rackspace, you are not forced to read about its services or products.
The course covers both the technical and business fundamentals of Cloud computing. To me, the course answered all my questions about basics of Cloud computing. I am better equipped to dive deep into the specific area of Cloud and answer the FAQ about Cloud.

Conclusion
I earned this certification today and I highly recommended to it anybody who's interested in knowing about Cloud computing.
The course shouldn't take more than 10 hours of your time.

Do let me know if there are any more free courses about Cloud and how has been your experience of CloudU certification.
