Covid -19 infected 2020 - Year to reboot for high performance

 


One of the most common troubleshooting technique used for our electronic devices like smartphones, computers, laptops , servers is reboot/restart.

This has proven to be quite  effective to handle performance issues of the devices.



Regular Maintenance is Must 


A common reason for performance drop in devices is the clutter that keeps on getting in the device memory as we are using it. When we reboot/restart the device, the temporary memory is cleared. And so often, the performance issue is cleared.


This act is a part of the process called as Regular Maintenance in the IT world.

Without regular maintenance, the device will not perform at its peak. We all must have seen some communication from our banks about scheduled downtime of systems for regular maintenance.

 


We need regular maintenance like our devices


We are like these devices. We also need regular maintenance. Vacation, family time, partying, hobbies are various ways and means of achieving this regular maintenance.

 

The other technique that has to be used for our regular maintenance is contemplation and reflection. And for this we need solitude.

 

We cannot contemplate when we are in Disney land, we cannot contemplate when are we watching our favorite super hero movie.

 

So the challenge of modern life is finding solitude or as we call it these days  - "me-time".

 

The lock-down imposed by Covid-19 has given us this "me-time". Of course, we wouldn't want the "me-time" in the form of Covid-19.

But, now that we are in this situation, lets make the best use of it to prepare for the future. I understand that for many of who us who have lost jobs, lost dear ones to Covid, suffering from Covid-19

 
How am I Rebooting


I am using Covid-19 to reflect on the big decisions that I have taken in my life, their outcomes, my mistakes, my learning and what I could take it in the future.

I am reflecting on my regrets, my complexes, my shortcomings and see what can I do to overcome them.

I am reflecting on the happy times. The moments when somebody said thank you to me, I want to understand  those patterns or habits and carry out them more frequently in the future.

I am  reskilling/upskilling my self so that I am prepared for the post lock-down situation.

 

In short, lets use Covid-19 to reboot our lives, trash out the junk, strengthen the habits that are working, form new habits, acquire new skills and be prepared for the future.
